Angel: The Series Picspam - 5x22, "Not Fade Away"

Basically chronicles some important/some of my favorite moments in the last episode of Angel. Warning: Fairly image-heavy. Enjoy. :)

The last episode of Angel starts up with Angel explaining his plan to his teammates. I really thought I would hate this episode, but as it turned out, I didn't. I think it's because the viewers finally see Angel revert back to how he used to be: focused on the mission and willing to do anything to "help the helpless" (who are, in this case, everyone, considering it's an apocalypse). Angel's character went under various transformations over the course of the show, and in this final episode we see he's the hero he's always been.

I thought this scene was important to add to the picspam. Angel signs away the Shanshu prophecy (in his own blood) which is part of what he's been working for all along.

(Love this bit, even though Harmony ends up betraying Angel.)
Angel: I don't remember what it was like. Being human. It was too long ago.
Harmony: Not so great. Zits. Dandruff. Mortality. Although I do remember . . . my heart. And the way it would thump when I kissed a really hot boy for the first time . . . That was cool.

Angel tells the team to take one day for themselves, to do whatever they want before the big fight coming up.

...So, naturally, Lorne goes to sing . . . "If I Ruled the World" . . . ♥

Gunn spends his day helping out at the shelter we remember from a previous season. Because Gunn is infinitely awesome (also, watching this made me realize that this Annie character is the same Anne from Buffy Season 3. I'M LATE!)

Illyria: This is not what you want.
Wesley: There is no perfect day for me, Illyria. There is no sunset or painting or finely-aged Scotch that's going to sum up my life and make tonight any . . . There is nothing that I want.

Spike shares his bloody awful poetry.
My soul is wrapped in harsh repose / Midnight descends in raven-colored clothes / But soft. Behold! A sunlight beam / Cutting a swath of glimmering gleam / My heart expands, 'tis grown a bulge in it / Inspired by your beauty... effulgent.

And Angel spends some time with his son. Who, by the by, now knows he's Angel's son. First time ever I could actually say I liked Connor. Figures; being the last episode and whatnot.

Getting ready for the apocalyptic battle. I HAD to include this scene because it's so hilariously awesome.
Angel: Not to sound cliche, but one of you is going to betray me tonight.
[Spike's hand shoots up]
Angel: Wes.
Spike: (disappointed) Oh. Can I deny you three times?

"That's all, folks."
Thought this was a very poignant scene. To think that sweet, lovable Lorne could actually go through with killing Lindsey? Crazy-talk.

(Connor helps save his dad.)
Angel: What the hell are you doing here?
Connor: Come on. You drop by for a cup of coffee, and the world's not ending? Please.

Gunn being badass. As if it takes him much effort. :)

Wesley's plan backfires on him; Vail takes the initiative and whams him a good one. He is dying.

Illyria: You'll be dead within moments.
Wesley: I know.
Illyria: Would you like me to lie to you now?
Wesley: Yes. Thank you, yes.
[Illyria morphs into Fred]
Wesley: Hello there.
Illyria: [as Fred] Oh Wesley. My Wesley.
Wesley: Fred, I've missed you.
Illyria: It's gonna be okay. It won't hurt much longer and then you'll be where I am.

(Illyria, feeling grief for Wesley even though she doesn't want to admit it, avenges his death)
Vail: Take your best shot, little girl.

(Angel discovers Hamilton's power is in his blood. He vamps out, all cool and whatnot.)
Angel: Those who care for nothing, will never understand those who do.
Hamilton: Yeah, but we won't care.

After defeating Hamilton, Angel hopes to meet up with the rest of his team. He does. Gunn is hurt; Illyria announces that Wesley is dead.

All hell breaks loose, so to speak. Wolfram & Hart isn't backing down just yet.

(And, so, the final lines of Angel: The Series...)
Spike: In terms of a plan?
Angel: We fight.
Spike: Bit more specific?
Angel: Well, personally, I kind of want to slay the dragon. Let's go to work.

Hope you enjoyed :)

I was looking for this on your personal journal, lol I didn't think to check here. I love this finale aside from Wesley dying :( and Illyria avenging his death is too fierce for words.

Lovely picspam <3
